Triumph NTC-950-2 Dual Pneumatic Assist Arm Tire Changer
What the dual assist arms do
The NTC-950-2 uses two pneumatic assist arms rather than one. They hold the bead down and guide the tire through the mount and demount cycle, which is what makes the difference on the wide-profile, low-profile, and run-flat tires that fight a single-arm machine. For a technician working alone, the arms act as a second and third set of hands, so a difficult tire does not turn into a two-person job. A side-mounted bead breaker applies 5,500 lbs of force to crack stubborn beads loose before the wheel reaches the turntable. Built-in bead-blast technology fires a concentrated burst of air into the sidewall to seat the bead and start inflation on tires that will not take air from a standard chuck.
Wheel and tire sizes it handles
Inside clamping runs 16–28" and outside clamping 14–26", which covers most passenger and light-truck wheels. The turntable takes wheel widths up to 15" and tire diameters up to 43". Triumph's tire-equipment fitment guide lists the NTC-950-2 for passenger cars and half-ton, three-quarter-ton, and one-ton trucks across Load Range C, D, and E, and it services 14"–24" and 16.5" wheels. Run-flat tires are covered, and motorcycle wheels are handled with an additional adapter. What it does not cover matters just as much: box-truck, over-the-road, 19.5", 21.5", and implement wheels fall outside its rating and call for a dedicated heavy-duty truck tire changer. Check your typical wheel mix against those numbers before you order.
Power, air, and floor space
The machine runs on a standard 110V single-phase outlet, so no three-phase service is involved. The motor is 1.5 HP. The assist arms, bead breaker, and bead-blast function are all pneumatic, so a shop compressed-air supply is required as well; maximum operating pressure is 120 PSI. Plan your floor space around an assembled size of 56" x 93" x 80" — that 80" height is worth checking against door and ceiling clearance on the way in. It ships in a 38" x 65" x 51" crate at 900 lbs. Tooling in the box includes a steel mount and demount head, a plastic mount and demount head, plastic wheel clamp covers, a soap tank with application brush, and a tire tool bar.
Warranty and freight delivery
The NTC-950-2 carries a 1-year parts warranty — parts only, no labor. If something fails, you call Triumph, troubleshoot the problem over the phone, and the covered part ships to you free, with both the part and ground shipping at no charge. Labor to install the replacement is not covered. Wear items are excluded: the plastic protective pads and tooling on the clamps, heads, bead breaker, and assist arms, plus the single tire-inflation hose, lube brush, and bucket. Delivery is LTL common-carrier freight on a 48-foot semi with lift-gate service, so the driver lowers the crate to the ground at the rear of the truck and stops there — no moving it inside, no assembly. You schedule the appointment with the carrier, or route the machine to the nearest freight terminal and collect it with a trailer or van.
