What comes in the combo

The package pairs the Triumph NTC-950-1 commercial-style tire changer with the NTB-550 computer wheel balancer, covering both halves of a tire job in one purchase. The changer mounts and dismounts everything from standard passenger tires to harder jobs, and the balancer spins each wheel back to a true reading before it goes back on the vehicle. The changer arrives with a metal and plastic demount head, plastic wheel clamp covers, a tire iron, and a lube bucket and brush. The balancer comes with a plastic safety hood, quick-release wing nut, cone adapters, a wheel weight hammer, and a rim caliper. Both machines run on 110V single-phase power, so a standard shop or garage circuit handles them without dedicated three-phase wiring.

Tire changer clamping range and bead work

The NTC-950-1 clamps 16" to 28" from the inside and 14" to 26" from the outside, handles wheel widths up to 15", and takes tire diameters up to 43". A 1.5 HP motor turns the table. The assist arm holds the upper bead and sidewall in place so you can work run-flat and low-profile tires without fighting the tire by hand. A 5,500-lb bead breaker opens stubborn beads, and the Jet Blast inflator system delivers an air burst to seat the bead on the rim. Maximum air pressure is 120 PSI. Measure your own wheels against the clamping range before ordering: 28" is the ceiling clamping from the inside, and 26" clamping from the outside.

What the NTB-550 balancer handles

The NTB-550 covers wheels from 10" to 28" with rim widths from 1.5" to 20" and tire diameters up to 44", on a 36 mm shaft. Maximum wheel weight is 150 lbs, and Triumph applies a 75-lb total-weight limit when balancing larger or heavier assemblies. A cycle runs 6 to 9 seconds and reads to ±1 gram, with the display switchable between standard and metric. A foot-pedal wheel brake holds the wheel steady while you place weights, which improves accuracy by keeping the weight where you marked it. Data entry is manual — this model has no automatic data entry, so rim dimensions are dialed in by hand. The 1/4 HP motor runs on 110V, and the assembled balancer measures 28" x 47" x 56".

Fitment limits and delivery

Per Triumph's tire equipment fitment guide, this combo is rated for passenger cars and 1/2-ton, 3/4-ton and 1-ton light trucks, Load Range C, D and E tires, wheels from 14" to 24" plus 16.5" wheels, and motorcycle wheels with an additional adapter. It is not rated for box trucks, over-the-road trucks, 19.5" or 21.5" wheels, or implement (agricultural) wheels — if that work is part of your day, this is the wrong package. The combo ships on an LTL freight carrier with lift-gate service, so the driver lowers it to the ground at the back of the truck. The driver does not move the equipment inside your shop or assemble it. You call the freight company to schedule delivery; terminal pickup is also available.
