What the two machines cover

The NTC-650 is a dedicated large-truck tire changer. It clamps wheels from 14" to 26", accepts wheel widths up to 30.5", and mounts and demounts tires up to 63" in diameter. That envelope is sized for box-truck, over-the-road (semi), 19.5", 21.5", and implement (agricultural) wheels. It is not intended for passenger cars, light-duty 1/2, 3/4, or 1-ton truck wheels, smaller 14" to 24" or 16.5" wheels, run-flat tires, or motorcycle wheels. Inflation is rated to 120 PSI, and the machine does not have bead blast. The NTB-1200 balancer is the wide-range half of the pair, handling wheels from 10" to 28", tire diameters up to 51", rim widths from 1.5" to 20", and wheel weights up to 350 lbs.

Power and site requirements

The two machines do not share a circuit. The NTC-650 tire changer requires 220V service; the NTB-1200 balancer runs on 110V. Plan and install both outlets before the equipment arrives, because a shop with only one of the two supplies will be able to run only half the combo. The balancer is driven by a 1/3 HP motor. Also budget floor space and a delivery path using the shipping dimensions: the tire changer crates at 80" x 63" x 36" and weighs 1,420 lbs, and the balancer crates at 47" x 39" x 50" and weighs 720 lbs. Those weights matter for how you plan to move each crate from the truck to its working position.

How the balancer works day to day

The NTB-1200 spins on a 42 mm shaft with an 8-second balancing cycle, and reports balancing accuracy of ±1 gram on standard weights and ±10 gram on heavier weights. The display switches between standard and metric units. Wheel data is entered manually — there is no automatic data entry — so the operator inputs rim dimensions for each wheel rather than having the machine measure them. In coverage, the balancer is far broader than the changer it ships with: passenger cars; 1/2, 3/4, and 1-ton trucks; box trucks; over-the-road trucks; Load Range C, D, and E tires; 14" through 24" wheels; and 16.5", 19.5", 21.5", implement, and run-flat wheels. It does not balance motorcycle wheels.

Tooling, accessories, and warranty

The tire changer arrives with its integral tooling: clamps, mounting head, bead breaker, and assist arm, plus a single tire inflation hose and a lube brush and bucket. The balancer includes a protective wheel hood cover, top tray cover, wheel weight hammer, and quick-release wing nut. Triumph tire equipment carries a 1-year parts warranty — parts only, no labor. If a covered part fails, phone troubleshooting is provided and the replacement part ships free, including free ground shipping; labor to install it is not covered, though most replacements are straightforward for a mechanic. Wear and consumable items are excluded: the plastic protective pads and tooling on clamps, heads, bead breakers, and assist arms, the inflation hose, the lube brush and bucket, and the balancer's wing nut, hood cover, top tray cover, and hammer.
